What I See
Even if I can’t do the math, I’m a great fan of physics, particularly Quantum and Particle physics. As I’ve struggled with physics combined with competing in ultra running and cycling events, I’ve spent vast amounts of time thinking about reality and visions.
At some point ultra events, physics and drawing sort of became the same thing. One of the many things I’ve learned is that our view of reality is a conditioned response to what we have been taught to see from a very young age. I’ve tried to go beyond over and under that premise and see things in a different manner that is not constrained by what we have been taught to see and experience. I want to leave that behind and present a vision that has deep routes in alternative visions of a Separate Realty.
In physics, there is a huge dichotomy between what is happening in a macro world vs at a sub atomic level. I used to wonder which of the 2 was the “real” reality. My art tries to experience both realities and make available to all to take a look at a Separate Reality.
Some portion of my art is also a function of years of listening to the Rolling Stones and hugely enjoying George Mallory’s response when asked “why do you keep trying to climb Mt Everest”. He replied “because it is there”.
I paint alternative realities “because it is there”. In order to stay true to my vision, you can choose to view the paintings in any orientation-- there is no "up-side-down".
